I am an def a Canon fan, have always used Canon. I got told of the results of a recent survey in Europe. (Cant remember the official source, but will find and provide)

Canon are most popular in the 20-35 yr age group
Nikon are most popular in the 35 + group

80% of Camera's/Lenses sold (between Canon/Nikon) are Canon/Nikon to each age group i.e. 20-35 80% Canon etc

Would you say that is accurate? How many here are Canon or Nikon users. (Please let me know if you are not a Canon/Nikon user as dont want to leave you out   )

Let me know what model of camera you have as well i.e. 20D, D200 etc, so we can do some stats

In the 80ties Canon was more affordable in Holland.
Started with a A program
Then T60
EOS 5
EOS 33
And now 20D

(My first camera was a Practica. East German )

I am a Canon fan - though I started with a Mamiya SLR too many years ago!

I love the Canon L lenses, thats perhaps why I have stayed with them. Too expensive to change anyway.

Sadly, according to you, I should be using Nikon as I am 35+

Hmz, I turned 36 last year and bought new Canon gear after my old gear was stolen. According to these stats I should have bought Nikon :wall:

I'm a Nikon user.

Main reason for choosing Nikon was that I used my brother's Nikon F401 about 15 years ago. I liked his Nikon camera, so when I bought a new camera for myself, I chose the F801 which I used for about 12 years. 3 years ago I bought a F80, and now I just got my first digital SLR, a D70s.

P.S.: My first SLR ever was also a Praktica.
P.P.S.: I'm 35+ so the statistics are right in my case.

Hving been through Zenit, (Honeywell) Pentax, Olympus and Nikon over the last 40 years, my last three SLRs have been Canons and I can see no need to consider changing again

Used to be a Pentax man – still have all the gear.
Canon Hi8 Video-cam :)

but

What can I say? – then I saw the light so to speak.

Looks like the saying “with age comes real wisdom” holds true in my case – Nikon D70

Thanks for this thread, guys

I'm contemplating the purchase of a top DSLR and this will help me decide which, Canon or Nikon ? However, I won't throw away my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 with the amazing optical image stabilizer and very high zooming.

BTW, I'm 35+
