We visited Addo on Feb 12th. It was a scorcher! 43°C. (I noticed Night Owl also mentioned it elsewhere). I felt so sorry for the animals. They were all trying to hide under the smallest of bushes. I've never seen an ostrich's wings hang.
Addo now has a lovely thatched verandah at the restaurant. While we were sitting there ±13:00 having lunch a tour group, more elderly people, just arrived back from a day trip. There faces were flushed from sunburn, while they held there hats trying to protect there faces. They all made a dash for the restaurant. I don't think they will ever forget the African sun.
Here are some photos of which you'll be able to see how the animals seeked relief from the sun.
