Well this was the extra day at Grootkolk….
And we used it well.
In the morning we drove once again towards the northern direction.
It was quiet and we always drive onto the picnic spot at Unions End, we just don’t want to miss a sighting that might be there.
This time we had just entered the picnic spot when we saw him…. Larger View

At Union’s End we met Arks and chatted for quite a while.
On the way back south we saw the Warthog again, nearly in the same spot as the day before.Larger View

It was getting hotter and hotter that day and so we decided that it was the right time to return back to the camp.
Just in time to see our visitors at the waterhole.Larger ViewLarger ViewLarger View
Of course we had the usual visitors.

Soon after we had left the picnic spot the sky got darker and darker.Larger View
The wind got stronger and soon we were in the middle of a dust storm.
At first we had thought that there was a fire on the horizon, but then we realised that a wall of sand was moving towards us.
Used no filter, the colours were exactly like that.. Larger ViewLarger ViewLarger ViewLarger ViewLarger View

It was awesome…
We returned back to camp and discovered the mess…
The cover of our stove had been blown away, when we opened the door we saw that there was water in the cabin, the geyser was not working, as well as the fridge.
But Andries did a great job, while everybody was away he went through each and every unit and closed the windows in avoidance of much worse.
Thank you so much!!!!!
I went over to Arks unit to tell Andries who came down to the cabins again that the fridge was not working. While I was there wanderw arrived, opened the car door and shouts: Wow, what a thunderstorm….
We all were still awe-struck what we just witnessed…
Later we were even able to have a braai.
And the Brownie was back to the waterhole at exact the same time as the evenings before….
Without the extra night we would have missed this natural spectacle….
