3, 2, 1,........Let´s start the TR.

Our plane was a little late in Jo´burg and the lady at the car rental had their problems with my reservation, so we left O.R. Tambo later than expected.

About 4 hours later we did some shopping in the Super Spar in Nelspruit! Only the most imprtant things, because we´ve been in a hurry!

We entered the Numbi Gate at about 5 pm. Before checking in in Pretkop we decided to di our first drive around the camp!!!! It was really quiet, but nevertheless i took some photos...

We had a lovely braii with some chicken, lamb and of course a nice bottle of wine!

In the camp we had some guests.

Image

I almost stepped on this guest which was about 10 metres away from our bungalow. The next evening i asked a ranger, and he told me that´s a really dangerous scorpion! Good to know...

Here are some more pictures of the first morning. It was quiet around Pretoriuskop and the light was bad, but i tried my best to manage some good pics.

Thank you guys for your kind comments.

You don´t need to wait too long for the sunset drive pics, but first of all i wanna show you some of our guests in the camp.

The sunset drive started very quiet and weather was too bad to see the setting sun. So we were concentrated on the animals to come out for their evening walk!

It was getting dark and we met a huge herd of buffalos (no good pictures) and a breeding herd of elephants.
We used our Spotlights and were really lucky as we spotted a bushbaby in a tree. Now i got the chance to test my new flash.

Suddenly something crossed the road really fast. I stood up and shouted "African Wildcat". As soon as it appeared, it disappeared. Great! First AWC ever.

Some minutes later we spotted our first Spotted Eagle Owl

Image

We continued our drive after taking some pictures.

Our ranger slowed down and suddenly stopped..... SERVAL....I was getting nervous. Will i have the chance to see this elusive cat??!!?? YES... The Serval posed nicely. I had a big  on my face!

Perfect end of the day.... That night i was dreaming of elusive cats....... :D

The next morning started with a Kudu Bull. The weather seemed to get better.
We headed in direction to Lower Sabie for breakfast. It was a nice drive with some beautiful sightings.

Between Pretoriuskop and Skukuza next to the tar road, we found a mother hyena with her 7 pubs. Beautiful. One baby was suckling..... After a while another Hyena appeared. But the young ones chased it away.... Maybe it was daddy...

We said bye bye to the hyena clan and went on. Nice sighting!!!

On the H 4-1 we spotted our first Lions. 2 Males lying under a tree. But too far away for a good shot.

We made a short stop at Sunset Dam to have a look what´s going on there.
The usual residents were around.

Directly at the Lower Sabie Gate was a huge traffic jam. Of course, we knew what that meant.
A LION was lying under a tree about 70 metres in the bush. I put on my 2x Extender and managed to get pic through the thick bush.

After breakfast in Lower Sabie we headed in direction to Satara. Our Camp for the next 3 nights. We drove the H 4-1 and then the H 1-2.

Here are some of our impressions

Image

We passed the Mantimahle Waterhole, and suddenly i shouted "STOP". My girlfriend stopped the car.
I saw something moving far away in the thick bush. Minimum 250 metres. A herd of "something". But i knew that this "something" was really special. A herd of SABLES. More than 20 animals.

We turned in direction to the waterhole to get a glimpse of view on the Sables. We stopped in a quite good position and then suddenly they appeared behind a lot of trees. The grass was high. They moved fast and i had to use the extender, so the pics are not the best! But i´m really proud about, cause i spotted them...

Image

Again, i had a big  on my face. I was sooooo happy about that.

About 2 km before Kumana Dam we found our next Rhino

Image

That road was really quiet in the afternoon. We were talking about our braii, maybe to start earlier. We discussed not to do an evening drive that day, because we were both tired.

About 500 metres before NKaya Pan we saw two cars. We slowed down. My girlfriend was the driver. She moved our car behind the other. We checked what they were looking at. Then we saw a carcass lying next to the road. 10 metres away from our cars. I asked my girlfriend, if these guys had only stopped for watching that wildebeest carcass?!? NO...Of course the hadn´t. We moved a little bit forward, and then we saw the reason.

2 Lioness....

Image

They were lying in the shade, deep breathing. It was a little hot, so we decided to check in at Satara and go back to the Lion Kill again.

That was a great decision!
One of the Lioness started feasting...

Image

About 15 minutes later she got up and moved straight to our car, crossed the road and enjoyed the evening sun! Perfect...

But that was not the End of the day... We thought it could not be better, but we failed :naughty: .
We went to the Sweni Waterhole were we had one of the best sightings ever!!!!!!!!!!
