Booking advice for Activities

Unread postby Patto » Fri Sep 12, 2008 2:58 pm

You can also book the drives by phoning reservations.
You can contact any of the satellite reservations offices (Check the list on the homepage).
On the left click on Reservations and once the page opens there is a link that says "Satellite Reservation Offices".

Once you get through, state what camp you would like to take the drive from and what date it is. I just did it now and it worked like a charm.

Kind regards,
Pat :D

You can book a drive at the reception at the camp where you are staying.
You can also book it with your reservation # so if you phone the reservations office and I would suggest you do it early because December will be busy in the park.

You can also e-mail them to make a booking for a night drive.
December is very busy, you should not wait till you reach the camp, then it might be full already.

I was at Croc Bridge last weekend and did a sunset drive.

Drive leaves at 17:00pm and returns after 3 hours.
If you are staying outside the park then you pay more as opposed to someone who stays inside but its still well worth it.
I would definitely pre-book the game drive as December gets pretty busy.
Times of departure may vary according to season so best phone and confirm.

Just phone the camp & give them details for booking and its done.
Number for C/Bridge is : (013) 735 6012.
Once you arrive its just a matter of filling in the indemnity forms and enjoying the drive !!
Need to get there soon !!!

You can find the pricing to all walks and drives here. There is no real need to book them in advance, you can do that at the reception. But planningwise, especially with smaller camps, it may be handier for the camp itself.

Re: Activities - when to book?

Unread postby bert » Sun Jan 23, 2011 6:35 pm

Hi and welcome
There is no bushbraai tariff available
Best to send a email to reservations.
Its a joint venture between SANparks (guide and vehicle) and the restaurant which does not belong
to SANparks.
So if you send a email best to mention from which camp you want to have bushbraai
You can also book a ad hoc braai
Minimum for 6, but they might take 5
then you are the only party
I did that last year
I did one at Berg en Dal and Satara
Satara was my favourite

Booking of activities
When you make you booking best to book a walk
They can be in a demand
For a sunset drive usually there is some places left if you plan to drive the next day at a camp
But rather safe then sorry so you can also book them with your trip

Re: advice booking GAME DRIVES in Kruger

Unread postby norms » Sat May 28, 2011 3:27 pm

I would highly recommend booking your game drives before you go.
Contact central reservations and quote your reservation number.
Then add the required game drives to your original booking.

I have at times been disappointed when trying to book game drives at the various camps.
August is a busy time in the park due to European and North American summer vacations.

Game drives leave from all the main camps in the park.
The camps offer morning (early) and sunset drives (3 hours in duration). Satara, Olifants, Letaba, Shingwedzi and Punda Maria also offer a 2 hour night drive.

Game drives also leave from the gates in the south and Phalaborwa.

You are requested to be at the meeting point 15 minutes before departure but get there at least half an hour before.
The guide has a list of all the people who have booked and then calls out the names and then you board the vehicle.
I have found that the earlier the booking has been done, the closer your name will be to the top of the list.
If you want something you never had, do something you have never done.

If you want to book in advance then you can email reservations with your requests (do include your client number and booking reference if you already have accommodation booked) or you can wing it and book the day before or even on the day (if there are spare seats) at each camp's reception.

I just booked a number of walks and game drives by emailing central reservations including what drives and walks I wanted, the dates and how many people.
I included my Reservation number and Client code - I had a reply email the next day with billing information, went online and made the payment and got an updated statement showing the added activities and paid in full. Very efficient, quick and easy!

Prebooking game drives and walks

Unread postby Jabberwok » Tue Nov 20, 2012 3:51 pm

Hi all!
We are going to Kruger Park in December '12.
We booked accommodations for all nights.
My question is, is it really necessary to prebook in advance drives and walks?
Can you just book activities upon arrival at camps?
Or we would better do it now?
I ask because I hesitate to book now because I am not sure about our exact schedule, we will stay in several camps.
I would prefer to book in camps, but if everything will be fully prebooked it will not work. Thanks!

Hi Jabberwok and a warm welcome to the forum!

Which camps will you be staying at?
Some of the more popular ones might possibly get the activities booked up early, especially in the busy season but generally its not really necessary and you can get what you want as long as you book as early as possible either the night before or as soon as reception opens in the morning.
But of course its always a chance you take!
Enjoy your trip.

Have a read Drives info and

Walks for lots of great advice and info.

Reserving a Morning Game Walk?

Unread postby hamboneco » Sat Apr 20, 2013 4:38 pm

My family and I will be in KNP May 19-24, staying at Berg En Dal and Skukuza.
I want to make an ADVANCE RESERVATION for a morning game walk so we can be certain of it.
But I cannot figure out how to make this reservation on the Sanparks website.
Could someone instruct me, please?
Also, if you have any advice of the relative merits of a game walk from Berg En Dal vs. Skukuza, I would appreciate it.
This is my first Forum post, so excuse me if the information I want is already here, and I simply could not locate it!

Hi Hamboneco, welcome to the forum.

To book a walk in advance you will need to email reservations@sanparks.org with your reservation number and they will add the cost to your account.

I'm afraid I haven't done a walk from either of these camps so can't advise on which one. Hopefully someone else will be able to advise on that.
