Eremomela Icteropygalis

This small bird, approximately 10cm in size is different to other eremomelas because of it's combination of olive-grey upper parts and it's greyish white throat and the main distinguishment is the pale yellow breast, flanks and belly. The colour of yellow varies in different parts on this bird. It has a dark eye-stripe which goes through it's brown eye, another distinguishment is it's pale eyebrow stripe. Often confused with the Cape Penduline Tit although it is more larger and has a longer bill, not to mention this eremomela has no black forehead. The juvenile has duller yellow underparts. Habitats vary from thornveld, broadleafed woodland and scrub. Call is a high pitched 'tchee-tchuu'.
