Wattle-eye, black-throated, Platysteira peltata

Sometimes one gets to have really lucky moments - like this morning in the Cape Vidal reserve when I "shot" what I thought to be a battis or a brubru. I only had one opportunity before the bird flew into the forrest. When I downloaded the images from my camera, the picture was sharp and the image showed the red wattle over this bird's eye well - this was the first inkling I had that I actually got a lifer here!

Have only seen these up at Pafuri till now and hidden in the foliage.

Saw them at the Crocodile Park by the entrance to Cape Vidal. Very unexpected but had great views. I don't know if we were just lucky or if they are regulars there (we saw both male and female).

They are back at the Pafuri picnic site. Saw one of these little beauties on Sunday (23/09/2007). According to Frank they've been back for a little while now and tend to keep to the eastern side of the picnic area. You can have look in the area between the ablutions and Frank's house. They tend to stay in the creepers.

Yep, we saw male and female in exactly that spot on August 10th.

Got this one down in Mtunzini in Natal. He was difficult to photograph as he never sat still!

Seen this bird a couple of times along the Luvuvhu but interestingly also at the Rudi Frankel guest house in 2005 at Satara!!!! Keep an eye out for it there in the dense undergrowth!

Have they been recorded recently at Crocodile Bridge?

This one in the camp beginning of October 2011. I certainly didn't expect that! And definitely a lifer for me...

Last November a pair nested right above the road between the two Luvuvhu bridges, but closer to the northern one, in an Ana Tryee full of Flame Creeper overhanging the road.
