Angels on an Avian Mission. Mission Statement.
The
A-Team is comprised of the following members:
Wanda: an esteemed member who will add wit, wisdom and credibility to the mission. (Without whose blessing the mission would not have taken off) A spotter.
Admin: on a mission to experience the sights, smells and sounds of the wild, up close and personal. (Without whose blessing the mission would not have taken off) Also a spotter.
Diannet: a keen emerging birder whose journalistic prowess will ensure accurate and entertaining documentation of this mission. Also a spotter.
Hopefully Rene: what mission is complete without an excellent PR person. Also a spotter.
Sandra: an ace at GIS, the Cybertracker expert, data capturer. Also a spotter.
Gwendolen: chef extraordinaire, ops specialist, photographer. Also a spotter.
Dinkybird: photographer, data capturer, logistics specialist. Also a spotter.
Jay: Team coordinator, data capturer, photographer. Responsible for submission of accurate report of findings to interested parties.
Mission: to locate elusive Pel’s Fishing-Owl, photograph, record exact location and any other relevant information.
Method: on foot, in the dense riverine vegetation of the untamed Olifants River, using GPS, Kruger field guides to ensure the safety of the A-Team members.
Mission dates: arrive in KNP 15 November, search designated area 16 November, move on to recuperate 17, 18 November.
Addendum: Have been advised (EWT) NOT to disturb iow locate the Pel’s which have been located and documented (GPS) AND that the pair on the Olifants morning bush walk have vacated the area( Julius, KNP). Thus mission has taken on the further challenge of finding as yet unseen/unlocated birds!!!!!
As yet not finalised: The A-Team will need a large, wise, witty back up team to whom the mission events will be relayed via various technological gadgets. This back up team will then be required to post up all intel. on the forums in great detail. The A-Team acknowledges this may include some mishaps and events which are amusing at the cost of the team members.
Addendum II: Raising funds for Cybertracker equipment which are needed to keep track of the seemingly dwindling numbers of the beautiful Pel's Fishing-Owl and other animal species.
