OK, so JoelR and I are going to Suikerbosrand on Saturday morning. Anyone else keen to join? I will only be able to spend the morning there so it will not be a full on assault on the suikerbosrand avifauna but I think it'll be a lekker anyway. Let me know if you're keen.

Question 2: Mods, I'm still not sure if these type of postings are allowed. If not, I will not object to you removing it and I will refrain from making more such postings in future but I just thought it could be a nice way for forumites to get to meet each other, even if it is unrelated to SANParks. Besides, there's no SANPark withing reach for a Saturday morning outing

We've been "getting away with it" for a while albeit sometimes in very cryptic form. So I don't see why we cannot continue. As you said, it is a great way for forumites to meet.

Talking about a meet; I will be in JHB this weekend - the van Rensburg-clan just this morning grew in numbers by one and I am taking Ouma to go and welcome the new clan member (yet another girl-child!) into this world. After the welcoming ceremony I am sure that I'll be able to meet with you guys - just need some detail (time and place).

I'd love to come, but I'll be joining a snare hunt in the Klipriviersberg. Enjoy.

WHAT?!?!? How could you possibly prefer watching the Springbok B-team getting trampled by the All Blacks when you could spend a morning in the pleasant company of the likes of Orange-river Francolin, Grey-winged Francolin, Red-winged Francolin, Sentinel Rock-thrush, Striped Pipit and Long-billed Lark - not to mention the even more pleasant company of deefstes and JoelR.

I don't know what a "snare hunt" is but I sincerely hope it's where you hunt for snares and not with snares.

A BIG thank you to the moderators for creating this space for us.

I trust this will enable us to create opportunities for "mini mini meets" and also get some of the more experienced birders to share some of their knowledge with others in the field.

So did you meet at Suikerbosrand? We've been there once and enjoyed it immensely. Two 'sekretaris' birds (dont know the eng.) walked right passed us.

When are you going again? We havent been birding for a long time so you can teach us rookies with pleasure!
