The pale eyes (not red) and the grey (not brown) legs/feet distinguishes it from the Southern-Masked Weaver.
Also, the breeding male Lesser Masked-Weaver's (Ploceus intermedius) mask extends well onto the crown and comes to a rounded (not pointed) end on the throat.
A bushveld bird, usually breeds in small colonies in large trees near water.
Forages in tree canopies for insects under the leaves. Eats caterpillars, termites and grasshoppers.
