Quite right Snoobab. The head pattern is all wrong for Orange-breasted. What about this one then?

As I mention in my post the photo posted was originally posted in the ID Needed thread. Various people at the time said that this is a juvenile/sub adult Orange-breasted Bush-shrike.

Grey-headed Bush-shrike in both adult and young birds has a pale eye as far as I know.

Yes francoisd that is correct. Read up a bit more and agree it is a juv OBBS, overlooked the eye at the first glance.

I agree on the pale eye, Cois, and not having my guide with me, drove me nuts. But I knew something didn't look right on comparing the two species. I still think your initial bird is an OBS.

We saw this little bird in September this year and it seemed to have a damaged wing or maybe it was young but it did not seem to be able to fly and was scuttling around on the ground.
I do apologise for the poor quality but it was my first and to date only sighting of this lovely little bird. :D
