Quote Please post a heads up in the Lamergeier thread. Well informed sources say that they are back in Golden Gate! |

The sighting that tops any other - the Lammergeier we saw at The Highlands Mountain Retreat in the late afternoon. It had me jumping up and down like a little kid.

Sonja Kruger and her team now have 6 BVs fitted with tracking devices. The three females and two of the males are all one-year-olds while bird 61 is a three-year-old male. You can see that his movements range far wider than any of the other birds. This map gives one a very good idea of areas where one can expect to see bearded vultures.

Thanks for the interesting update on the movement pattern. 61 sure likes that remote area of the Eastern Cape.
You ticked bearded vulture this year yet as I am sure it is still on "the Stiffnecks list" ? |

Thanks for sharing JvR
Hopefully I can pick up a sighting in the Eastern Cape, adding it to the Free State list would also be something special |

After spending a week at Giant's Castle Nature Reserve I can share some of my pics from these magnificent birds. At one stage we had 4 individuals together.
