I would really like to do this....as friends and family asked me....I know most of the animals...birds Im still learnig...whats next during my Year in Kruger...the obvious choice was the galaxy.,....but seeing that Im in a caravan and there is no facility at Olifants can I do it from either Satara, Letaba or Balule

I can't see why they couldn't pick you up from Balule - the stargazing is done at N'wamanzi lookout, not at Olifants
Emily I've done the astronomy night - it was a wonderful experience and I learnt so much. Obviously a map of the southern skies isn't really helpful for me "up here" but just getting the opportunity to have a closer look at the planets was fantastic. We were lucky and had a really clear view of Saturn. Very much worth the money and I'd recommend it to anyone. |

I am dying to do the astronomy night drive when we stay in Olifants in November. I was told to reserve directly with the camp. Does anyone know how far in advance I should contact them?

Late afternoon should be fine as that drive needs the sun to be down.
I would give them a call say 2 weeks before arriving. Using my phone here, so I can't link, but the contact numbers and mail are on the camps page. |
