It is probably called Guineafowl because it looks much like a guineafowl feather, RosemaryH... It is distributed throughout the flatlands of most of the Transvaal (excluding the coldest parts of Mpumalanga; and also found in the northern most parts of the Northern Cape and Northern Natal as well as Swaziland. Seen year-round.
