Night one - just outside Mata Mata is camping site, but you can make it easely to Mata Mata. Sleep two nights, next day to Twee rivieren en then out the park.

I want to cross to Namibia through Mata Mata. I know i need my driver's licence, my car paper's, letter from insurance company and a car disk. But do I need a police clearance certificate? The AA and High Commission in Pta say no, but others say I will need it. Please help!

Hi Peregrina,
Additional info to what Jan said: When you get your passport stamped at TR to exit at Mata Mata, the Police may and sometimes does inspect you vehicle but only for the routine stuff. Same when leaving SA at Mata Mata. You have to report to SA Police before crossing into Namibia and they may search you again. Maybe that's where the confusion came in - you need Police clearance to leave the country - at the checkpoint. Make sure you don't have firewood with you when exit into Namibia. |

This is a huge relief, WeskusKlong. Thank you. I am arriving this weekend and haven't been to the Park since 1987. I cannot wait to see it again.
