Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber)
Other names: Afrikaans: Grootflamink German: Flamingo French: Flamant rose Portuguese: Flamingo-comum Dutch: Flamingo The feeding flamingos were photographed at the Geelbek hide in West Coast National Park. Well one should not be able to confuse a flamingo for any other bird and the most noticeable difference between the Greater and Lesser flamingos when they are not feeding together is the bill colour. Greater flamingo has a pinkish bill with a black tip whereas the bill of the Lesser Flamingo is an all dark red |
