Previously there was a very popular thread on the forum called "Knippie in die Bos" but unfortunately it is no longer and newer forum members will never be able to read it. I have therefore concluded that it was about a person loosing a hairpiece in the Bush in Kruger which caused some embarrassment. In Afrikaans we sometimes call a “knippie” a hair pin or something.
But embarrassing situations happens to all of us such as the one time in Satara we were chatting to a fellow traveler who we saw and greeted on the road in passing as we found Kruger visitors to be very friendly people. He introduced himself as Hugo pronounced for an Afrikaans speaking person like myself similar to “You Go”. I thought he meant I must give my name first and for some reason I responded by saying no you go first. I do not need to say that he looked very puzzled. After the second “you go first” my SO said as diplomatically but firmly as possible no his name is Hugo, not pronounced as “Hie-Gou” as sometimes in Afrikaans. I hope I, and the person loosing the hair pin, are not the only ones who had an embarrassing moment in SA National Parks. |

don't we all
I can share a Comrades one. I was running in 2000, the year they had record entries. It was impossible to get to a loo and my moring coffee was talking. I kept looking for a safe bush for a knippie. Eventualy I found one that would hide me from my fellow runners. I felt this wonderful sense of relief as my morning coffee made an exit, but the relief was short lived. I was perched, with my nether regions showing above busy freeway thank goodness it did not make the front page |

This past weekend we were highly amused to see a lady taking a necessary "knippie" her entire nether regions visable, but she hid her face
