An interesting speed control contraption is in place before Beaufort West. If memory is correct it covers your average speed over 67 kms. Some more black buck with normal springbuck, hinted that the previous ones were black springbuck.

After some shopping in Beaufort West, we booked in at Karoo National Park. Very friendly welcome at the Gate.

An evening shot from our stoep of some kudu moving across the valley.

This guy (thought was a shrike) tried to clean 'the beast' hopping around

After checking the sighting board we went lion hunting.

We headed up Klinpspringer pass...and found one :D

We then ventured out onto the Nuweveld 4x4 loop.

A troop of baboons watched us cross the river bed...into the unknown

Image

As with MZNP we did not see anybody on the loop, nobody knew we we there, no rescue equipment, not very

All the animals were very skittish....so they did not stand around..they were on the move...witnessed some amazing speeds esp from the springbok

Skittish perhaps due to past hunting?
