I promised to give a new date for the cancelled cradle meet. Remember the one where the low water bridge to MM's place was flooded.
I will be having special guests staying with me on the 10th and 11th September. I thought, why not combine a stiffnecks meeting with this special forumite.. and SO? Which day will suit you all? There is also a suprise prize for the person who gets the identity of the mite in question first. |

MM, your photos are very tempting. Unfortunately, it is too far for me.
PS: Are you allowed to fish in that river? |

Pity you are so far Mizzbee
I think there are fish in the river, there are certainly Fish Eagles around. This river is used regularly by canoists. ![]() a noisy resident. ![]() for those who do come Duke and Desi will be around to give a warm welcome ![]() and then of course, the special guests will also be there to give a warm welcome |

MM, I'm working that weekend, but will try to make it if I can, even if for an hour or two.

Salamanda, I am really missing my camera. I do however hope to replace it soon with a Cannon 30x zoom. I need to get all those impossible LBJ's for identification.
OWN, Anne Marie, living here has so altered my quality of life. I realise now how claustrophobic I was in the city. It does involve more travelling, but the last few kilometres of my drive home are magic. I often see owls, hares, green eyes that intrigue me. I even had to rescue a mole once.. and once a terrapin. The morning drive brings all kinds of birds from Kites to Prinias... from Weavers to Mousebirds. My pets love it too. |

We had the pleasure of seeing MM's place, and my breath was removed time after time as I gasped at the beauty within which she lives! It was like driving entirely out of the city and being in the middle of a nature reserve; then I find out that it is indeed in the middle of a nature conservancy. How fantastic!
Seeing it in winter was lovely in itself, so I can only image what spring and summer will yield. Yet, I know that my imagination cannot do the place justice. Having the meet in September is a perfect time, with the summer birds arriving and the little animals spreading their wings, so to speak. The Crocodile River, and most especially the Jukskei, is delightful and lush, already now, and the nocturnal life in the area is phenomenal, especially considering MM's so close to the city. Go along and support her at the meet - you will have a wonderful time! |
