Some feed back
The time and effort invested by the Honorary Rangers in this project is starting to pay off and the first group of students have had their introduction to the wonders of nature. lets hope this sets the stage for a future where nature conservation is not just something that is talked about by other people but that it is the beginnings of a genuine passion for nature. ![]() 1 Faces beaming in anticipation of what the day holds ![]() 2 In the lecture area, learning more of nature and what to look out for ![]() 3 Getting up close for some finer details from the ranger Thank you to every one that helped make this possible. We would like to roll this out in other parks as well so for the folks that have not joined us yet please look deep in to your hearts and help change the life of a child. Let's be positive for a change, your donation does make a difference. Lets help underprivileged children appreciate and enjoy nature as much as we do. |

Hi guys,
Is this project still running. We would like to make a donation to a charity instaed of having wedding favours. It would be great if we could get more info and pictures so we could make up little info cards and also promote the cause to our guests. |

Hi mad4wildlife
Yes, this is an ongoing project. The VHRs (SANParks HRs, Virtual Region) have just committed R31000 to take pupils (those chosen by their teachers for the outing) to Augrabies Fall National Park. These are children drawn from extremely remote and poor communities many kilometres (over 100km) from the park, and who never get an opportunity to travel anywhere. One of the areas do not even have transport services available to them. These children live near the Orange River but do not get to see the river, nor have ever seen a waterfall - let alone get to visit a National Park and have the learning experience of a walk in nature, learn about the plants and animals. SANParks are providing the tent and camping area for these children, the VHRs the transport and food. If you wish for further details, please do PM me. The project is run by Augrabies Falls NP P&C Officer, Christine E du Plessis. Christine does wonderful work. |
