Please help - I have a Nikon D 80 and would like to upgrade soon. Has anyone bought or used the Nikon D 7000? I have read reviews but would like some personal experiences.
Many thanks. |

On a more serious note; you might care to take a look at this review from DPReview
Scores pretty well, and in summary they say; Quote The D7000 produces great image quality and feels very responsive in most shooting situations. It shines especially in low light. From a specification point of view a 16.3 MP resolution sensor, 6 frames per second continuous shooting, 1080p full HD video and an abundance of customization options place this camera firmly into the upper end of the mid-range segment of the market. |

Hi Hoyle,
I'm also a Nikon user for the last couple of years with my Nikon D90. I can't seem to recall Nikon making a bad camera 'ever' so if I were you, I'd jump right in! The only experience I have with it was a quick play with it in the shops and I've put it down as soon as possible otherwise my credit card would not have survived!! |

Thanks EOS user - but once a Nikon fan we do not change!!
Switchback thanks too for your advice. I am sure I will go for it - just got to sort finances out. Don't want EOS user to know, but I have had problems with my D50 and D80 - but still a big fan! |

No problems with my D70S and am very happy with it, but I will always stay a Pentax fan.
Then you really can't go wrong. |

If I had the money, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the D7000, especially over a D3000. All the reviews I've read, and the specs, point to it being a very special camera.

I will admit that if I was not a pentax fan that I would swop over to nikon and not canon
![]() Pentax's problem with their cameras has always been focussing accuracy with moving subjects such as wildlife but looks like the K5 has sorted that out. And I may be wrong but I have always had the impression that nikon has the superior focusing system? And I probably would not hesitate too long if I had the opportunity to get a D300S |

Thanks everyone for all the good advice. It is appreciated. I am sure I will go for the D 7000 - just have to sort out finances. When I do have one, and when I learn how to post pics, I will do so!

Hi Hoyle
Thanks for chatting about the D7000 after making contact on my trip report. Yes, the D7000 is light, sturdy, VERY good up to ISO 3200!! Only complaint is the AF in video mode. Works slowly, and VERY difficult to do with big lenses like the 200-400. Much better to stick to 18-200 or 18-105. I am thrilled to have it after my D200. No comparison. God bless, Friedrich von Hörsten |

I am experiencing HUGE problems after getting my D7000..
The improvement in the D7000 over my trusty D70 is so huge, and by many reviews on the web, is currently the best consumer camera that Nikon has ever produced. Features and quality dwarf both the D90 and the D300s, with the latter only being slightly more robust. Now I simply have to replace all those non-nikon (and some nikon) lenses with super-fast (2.8 or better) VR glass.... all donations and contributions welcome ![]() |
