Can anyone help with ID for these two critters (I think they are skinks?) seen in KTP in February 2010?

Have no references with me, but have a look at Striped Skink, looks like one of the subspecies, or possible splits.....

They do appear to be of the same species....

Is this possibly a female ground agama?
![]() Most agamas I saw had blue/darker markings, as in this example ![]() and I'd thought that those are perhaps male? Both seen in KTP in February 2010. |

I found this chameleon in Kruger three weeks ago and I don't have a book on chameleons so I can't properly ID it. I'm hoping there are some chameleon experts on the forum who can help me ID it

Its a flap-neck chameleon, Chamaeleo dilepis This is the only species of flap-neck chameleon. While resting and unstressed the body colouration is usually emerald green with white lateral longitudianl barshowever when stressed or handled can become almost black in colour.Light and dark green blotches cover the entire body when the chameleon is on the move, as you can see in your picture.
Great shot! |

Madach, I agree with Oddesy... it is a Flap Neck Chameleon.
Description : A large chameleon with a continuous crest of small, white, triangular tubercles on the throat and belly. Colouration varies, from pale yellow through green shades to brown. The belly crest is white, and there is usually a pale bar on the sides. (Source: http://www.krugerpark.co.za/africa_flap ... eleon.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) |
