OK, I've started a couple of quizzes and some of them are successful, but some of them tanked as well - so I won't take it personal if this one bites the dust too... here goes:
This is for people that are interested in maps and reading maps, like I am. I'll post a clue for a starting destination and directions to an end-destination. You have to guess the end-destination. When confirming the answer I'll add 2 pictures: 1. A picture taken by a fellow mite of the end-destination. (with full recognition to the mite off-course) 2. A google map of the road taken - maybe more people will then get interested in the KNP from the SKY quizz as well - look here!! Wanna have a go? Enjoy!! |

I had to wait in line this morning to enter the park. Once EcoJunkie gave me my ticket I was on my way. Scarcely 4 km's into the park I saw my first of the Big5 - a white rhino some distance away. Too far for a picture but a good start anyhow. I decided that the main road was too busy and took this opportunity to take the gravel road to my right. Following the river, I saw the plenty of game - Impala, Zebra, hornbills, even some vultures circling in the distance. After about 12km's or so I was faced with a choice... do I continue on this river road or do I turn left to see why the vultures were circling high above.
I decided that I would rather take a chance and see if I can book into my bungallow, even though it was way before official check-in times: ... Another 18kms of gravel road lay ahead. The bush was very thick and I was glad when I reached the turnoff to camp on my left. It was getting quite warm and I hoped that they would allow me to unpack and get some rest before heading off again. After only 15/20 minutes or so I reached camp. And would you believe it... they gave me bungalow 6 - how lucky can one get?? ![]() |

This is a nice one for people knowing their Kruger. I am not one of those, but on this first one I'll have a guess

Nope Micetta - it takes 3 hours+ to get to Lower Sabie... I was only in Kruger for just under 2 hours ![]() |

Well done Patto - Biyamiti it is EcoJunkie sometimes helps out at Malelane gate - this is where I entered. Here's the Google Map... follow the green path... I turned off the H3 onto the S114 after 4kms. Another 7kms and I turned onto the S25. Ignoring the vultures on the S119 I continued on the S25, until I reached the S139. Turning left, another 4 kms and Biyamiti is on your right. ![]() This pic of Bungalow No. 6 was taken by Jakkalsbessie ![]() |

Nice quizz Nungu. It is relatively easy and it keeps the ball rolling. Some quizzies are dragged out too long and then everybody looses interest, like the one where I had to be a bit sarcastic in order to get some response from the person who posted the question. It ran for 10 days before an answer was given.

Micetta wrote  I did not even look at a map, a shoot in the dark No problem Micetta - like I said - get an online map and you can calculate your way to the answer Rooies wrote It is relatively easy and it keeps the ball rolling. Yes Rooies - there are really 2 parts to the quizz...first figure out the clue for the starting point and then just follow the directions on a map... I like it!! |

As I sit on the stoep I can't believe that this must've been Bruce Bryden's sundowner every day. Realising that the sun is going down fast and I still wanted to catch that elusive cheetah pinned on sightings board, I grab my camera and biltong and rush to Tysie (my trusted Honda CRV). I quickly turn her nose north as I head along the main road. It'll take a good hour to get there - so I'd better rush. No time to waste, so I skip the turnoff to the pan on my left. 14km's speeds by (that is if 34km/h can be called speeding). Here I have to stop and watch the Sable at the turnoff to the right. I did this loop in the morning and am amazed that they're still hanging around. They're usually so shy!!! Having taken nice pics earlier, I decide to carry on with the mission and stay on the main road - Cheetah is what we're after today. Another 6km's and I turn west. The road is bumpy... it's a good thing its open veld here - otherwise I might've killed that Francolin playing Russian Roulette with Tysie. It's dry and it's hot. I see Zebra, Buffalo, Lanner Falcon and the usual Ellie on this famous loop. Having arrived in good time I have time to switch off the engine and wait... didn't have to wait too long... just as I get out the biltong there she is - right in front of me - I found my cheetah!!

Hello Nungu
What is the question? You are either at Mopanie (Mooiplaas ranger post) when sitting on your stoep or on the Shongololo loop when you found the cheetah |
