Great shots SW. Out of interest, how'd you take the shot with the black background?

I haven't been on the forum for quite a while but we just decided to make another Kruger visit (our 3rd) in 2011. It is a magical place. Hope to spend a lot more time on this great website.

The photo was shot at about 10 in the morning, not exactly golden hour, but still good side lighting. The area around him was quite a bit in the shade and having so much dark around a white subject, it is easy to over expose and lose detail in your whites. So, I under exposed the shot and the EXIF data looks like this:

ISO: 400
Aperture F/8
Shutter Speed: 1/2000
EV: -0.7

So basically it's the water around him that's in the shade that shows up dark and I under-exposed the shot.

I took this photo at Sable dam.

Nice, Bennievis - captures the feel I know of that dam.

Switchback, what fantastic photos!! They're all great, but I especially love the (is it a) swan - just white with the ordered reflection on a black background!

What a pleasurable hour I've just spent (very slow connection) feasting on these stunning photo's! A wonderful theme, and I think the water contributes to the sense of tranquility conveyed by so many of these. Thanks to all you very VERY talented photographers.
