I have been told, and it happens every now and again, that there is another computer with the same IP address.

How significant is this?
Must I do anything about it?

No need to worry, you have a new IP address everytime you connect to the internet. (Quite an impressive list of IP's actually.)

If it bothers you just close the connection, and reconnect.

This can happen on a network, when two pc's has exactly the same ip address.

Is your computer connected to a home network or a network at work?

I suggest if it is a network at work, to call the LAN Administrator for him to fix this problem.

If it is at home, you probably how two computers on the network with the same IP address. Change the IP address of one of your pc's.....

I will recitify this problem if i were you.

I have only a laptop which I use mainly at home. At home I use 3G. On the rare occasions when I take my laptop to work, I make use of our internet broadband at work. The problem only arises when I am at home.
