African Common White, Belenois creona severina, photographed early in February on the Flycatcher trail in Punda. These butterflies are sexually dimorphic. They are found year-round, but more commonly in late summer and autumn in an area along a broad strip following the eastern coast of South African to most places north of the Vaal River including the extreme eastern parts of the Northern Cape.

Which guide are you using, 3dgreek? The Steve Woodhall deals with it on pg336. Try finding it on the Latin name...

Still couldn't find it using the Latin name...my book is called Field Guide to Insects of South Africa- written by Mike Picker, Charles Griffiths and Alan Weaving and published by STRUIK.
Very good book with strikingly colourful photos. It's over 500 pages long so I thought it would've had this butterfly in it. |

I guess you'll have to invest in a butterfly field guide (440 pgs of JUST butterflies!)
