Have always loved that call - others a great - but that one personifies the bush for me - hearing it for years but could not idenity - not good with interpreting the book's version of the calls - hubby gave me ipod for our anniversary with SASOL birds and their calls - so this last trip I at last could idenitfy the bird |

The call I absolutely love in the early evening just as the sun starts to set is the lovely lilting descending call of the Water Thick-knee.

at home (Polokwane) the crested barbet but in the park the woodland kingfisher and the fish eagle.

Has to be the gewone ou laughing dove - no matter where I am the sound reminds me of home

I think that the two that recall the African bush are the Dove's and Fish Eagle's calls.
Nothing like hearing them at sunrise or sunset! |

of course Micetta, you buy them in packs of 6,12 or 24 - loose is too expensive. WAIT!!! You weren't talking about night caps
Fish eagle, Woodlands kingfisher - They give me goosebumps |
