What do you guys think of the new common names?
Personally, I prefer the the old common names and I will always use them for example a Dikkop will always be a Dikkop to me not a Thick Knee |

Hi naturelover
I don't like them either. One or two make sense but whatever excuses are given for the change, the fact of the matter is that the various bird authors and those producing the bird books change the names so that we can buy their new products. Its means more money for them. In a few years time there will be more changes, or more bird species will be split. Its an ongoing thing which makes sense part of the time when its from a scienctific point of view, but most of the time is abused by those with the power to make unnecessary changes so that they can generate more sales. |
