Favourite bird...
Waking up in the veldt on a freezing morning, listening to the francolin calling... Hearing the bush wake up, all a'twittering... The mourning doves cooing you along, and the bush alive with all the feathered friends... the metallic chink-chink of disturbed guineafowl... The fish-eagle calling overhead as you sit next to the calm and quiet water... The swallows chattering excitedly overhead in the swarms of insects... The nightjar and owl keeping you company as you sit next to the campfire, content after a hard day... "The forest would be a very quiet place if only the Top Ten birds sang." My favourite bird? That one which I'm seeing/hearing at that point in time. |

Love the Crested Barbet - they are so comical. My dad always says they look like they were designed by a committee that wanted to get all the colours in!!

I would say Pel's Fishing Owl if I have been lucky to see one, so out of the birds I have seen it has to be Verraux's Eagle Owl
