I once got invaded by giant millipedes in Twee Rivieren, such that they were on top of, underneath, and all around my tent; all because there was a rain storm on the way? Was quite a squeamish experience, I must say.

So what you are saying OWN is that there could be a bit of truth in this? :hmz:

In the summer months in Kruger there is a bird that calls frequently. I have not been able to record the call, but it sounds like someone trying to whistle a tune, but is a bit off key. Does anyone have any ideas what bird it could be?

We hear it so often, but they have proved quite difficult to find. Thanks EJ.

Nice interesting thread.

I have a question: I stay in Jozzi ( alias the big smoke) and during the summer months I notice that male rain spiders seem to invade my house. Can anyone put forward an answer as I find it curious. :hmz:

Pops, the only thing that i found is that....."While Palystes, (Rain Spider) mostly hunt insects on plants, they commonly enter houses after rain, or during the summer, where they will prey on geckos".

Maybe someone else has got more answers.

Thanx Philip1. I thought that they came in looking for their female counterparts.
