Yes. . . .

The stilleto snake. It has retractable fangs and can attack sideways without opening its mouth. It spends much of its time underground in narrow tunnels where there is little space for it to rear back and open its mouth therefore it simply extends a fang and move sideways to stab its prey and inject it with poison.

While this is an interesting fact, this honor does not belong solely to the ostrich. Believe it or not there are other birds whose eyes are larger than their brains! The ostrich however has the largest eyes of all land animals and the biggest eye:brain ratio.

As for the saying well ostriches do not actually bury their heads in the sand but when an ostrich senses danger and cannot run away, it flops to the ground and remains still with its head and neck flat on the ground in front of it. As the head and neck are light colored, they seem to blend in with the soil which makes it look like the ostrich has buried its head in the sand, which is where the saying comes from!
