I didn't know the fuction of the glands
So it basically it allows them to leave a trail for the herd to follow so they don't get lost and can stick together when running from danger? ![]() |

Well done Sleepyowl21 I don't know if you have seen it in person before when they bombshell like that, it is especially obvious at night when visbilty is difficult, but it is like they hit an invisible wall and they all just take off at the exact same spot. You are it ![]() |

I have noticed it, I just never really thought about how they manage to do it! Thanks.
I'm new to this so I apologize if I do something incorrectly. The cheetah has distinctive 'tear stripes' on it's face. What is the purpose of these stripes thought to be? |

Ok, here's the traditional version:
Many, many moons and long, long ago when the world was still young, Cheetah was created with all the other animals. Cheetah was alone and went to Lion, but he was chased away because he couldn't roar and his claws couldn't retract like those of a cat. Cheetah then went to Wild Dog who also chased him away because he didn't look like a dog. Cheetah then cried and cried (sitting in a burnt field) until his tears left two black streaks on his face. It is still there for eveyone to be seen today. ![]() |

although I'm talking about a plausible, scientifically realistic function for the stripes. |

But that was science a few centuries ago
Will wait for one day before I give the answer that is more modern scientifically acceptable. Hopefully others can also join the hornless quiz. ![]() |

It is suppose to help with their vision as they normaly hunt during daytime. it helps to get the sun's glare out of their eyes or something like that.
Maybe I can get a horn for that? |
