Impala? To cover it's scent glands?

You`ve got the animal correct yes , but what is the reason for these glands?

I didn't know the fuction of the glands so I googled it and came up with this " The gland secretes a pheromone under muscular contraction, and running stimulates release. So, we now have impala running bunched together, releasing a pungent odour from their hind feet. As the front runners see and jump to avoid obstacles, they leave a scent trail from the metatarsal gland that follows the path of their hind legs as they clear the obstacle. The ones behind hit the scent trail with their noses and with an autonomic nervous response jump as well. The split second for this to happen puts their leap exactly where the previous one was, and so strengthens the scent trail"

So it basically it allows them to leave a trail for the herd to follow so they don't get lost and can stick together when running from danger?

I don't know if you have seen it in person before when they bombshell like that, it is especially obvious at night when visbilty is difficult, but it is like they hit an invisible wall and they all just take off at the exact same spot.

I'm new to this so I apologize if I do something incorrectly. Ok here goes.....

The cheetah has distinctive 'tear stripes' on it's face. What is the purpose of these stripes thought to be?

Ok, here's the traditional version:
Many, many moons and long, long ago when the world was still young, Cheetah was created with all the other animals. Cheetah was alone and went to Lion, but he was chased away because he couldn't roar and his claws couldn't retract like those of a cat. Cheetah then went to Wild Dog who also chased him away because he didn't look like a dog. Cheetah then cried and cried (sitting in a burnt field) until his tears left two black streaks on his face. It is still there for eveyone to be seen today.

You should get points for a good story although I'm talking about a plausible, scientifically realistic function for the stripes.

But that was science a few centuries ago
Will wait for one day before I give the answer that is more modern scientifically acceptable. Hopefully others can also join the hornless quiz.

It is suppose to help with their vision as they normaly hunt during daytime. it helps to get the sun's glare out of their eyes or something like that.
Maybe I can get a horn for that?
