I agree with Imberbe AND I learn't a new word (thought you'd made a mistake at first and spelt 'extinct' wrong - till I looked it up).

True or false and motivate your answer.
A large male elephant can loose up to 120 liters of water per day just through sweat. |

I say false. The blood that passes through the large blood vessels in their ears as they flap them, enables them to keep cool.

Agree with Siobain. Elephant don't sweat. So they lose no water that way. But they lose a lot of heat through their ears.

Siobain's answer is correct, and Bishop gave the correct explanation. First of you two to post is IT! |

Since he answered first I'll leave the floor to Siobain. (I still like answering more than asking!

1.) The shine of a Zebra's coat helps keep it cool.
2.) The "Wandering Albatross" is only found in southern oceans as it is unable to glide over the Doldrums. 3.) Baboons think abstractly. 4.) Giraffes hind legs are longer than forelegs. |

Ok, and I'm going to be a bit different
a) T (about 70% I believe) b) F (I've seen them off the West Australian coast c) T (Latest studies show that they do in common with other primates) b) F (I think they are about the same length) |

1.) The shine of a Zebra's coat helps keep it cool.
TRUE. Yes, the shine allows light and heat to reflect back, meaning that the animal can remain cooler on hot days. 2.) The "Wandering Albatross" is only found in southern oceans as it is unable to glide over the Doldrums. FALSE. They are indeed found in the Southern Oceans only, but I'm not sure whether it is the doldrums that play a role in keeping them there. I know they glide huge distances, and rely on updrafts, but I would imagine they could still cross the Doldrums if they wanted to. 3.) Baboons think abstractly. TRUE. This has been shown to be the case. 4.) Giraffes hind legs are longer than forelegs. FALSE. It depends, though, on how you look at leg-length. The back slopes downwards, so the hind legs look shorter than the front, but if you look where the leg joints are, they are about the same length. In both cases, then, the hind legs are not longer than the front. |
