Two years ago I wrote that Keartland was neglected and the housekeeping not up to scratch, however we stayed at Waterkant 1, September 2011, and the complete opposite could be said. Housekeeping was excellent and we really enjoyed our stay

Hi Rubicon as far as I remember the house have four bedrooms with two single beds in each room = 8 people. Next to Waterkant 1 is the Waterkant 2 cottage in which 4 persons can sleep and I think the two units form a nice place for a larger group. Enjoy you stay

ALFEL wrote From the verandah we saw animals all day and night. A small spotted Genet came onto our lawn one evening. I agree with that, it is a treat to stay there It is a real treat to stay there. After we have unpacked on a warm sunny day last week and settled on the veranda in front of the house we were very unexpectedly visited by a very large Mozambiquan Spitting Cobra (I am not exaggerating) that came around the corner uninvited as we were not ready to receive slithering guests at all |

If as you stated you are actually staying in Wells...then look at this quote about the satara webcam kill recently...

My husband and I were staying in unit G167 right on the fence. I was making early morning coffee at 5.10am when I heard the sound of hooves - ran inside to get a torch only to find a buffalo surrounded by four lions. I had no sooner shone my torch when the largest of the four male lions jumped up onto the buffalo's back. Two of the lion did all the work, while the other two watched from a distance. The buffalo ran with the two lion jumping on it from behind. They ran the buffalo into the fence in front of the Wells Guesthouse a few times and then, the buffalo ran again, this time, in the direction of the webcam in front of the restaurant. The lions pulled the buffalo down in the waterhole and we thought this was the end, but the determined buffalo got up again and charged the lion. The next time they pulled the buffalo down was where it finally died. However, the buffalo was still alive when there was a distant roar from another lion. The buffalo eventually gave up and died about 5 minutes after the lion left. I think the buffalo died of shock and maybe blood loss. The lion all made off except for one, which was eventually driven away by hyenas who settled down to feast. Four of five hyena fed all day, until just after dark when the lion finally returned to take possession of their kill. We watched as they fed, and then a pack of 13 hyena returned at first dawn and the lion left once again. The vultures flocked in behind the hyenas having had a few scuffles with the hyenas over who was going to get the remains. The lions returned that night to what was merely a couple of shiny bones, but guarded them and chewed on them until early the next morning. Really was watching the whole thing come full circle. ![]() |

Could anyone tell me if the Elsie Clark Guest house is worth booking.
It looks really nice, but would appreciate any feed back from people who have stayed there. Many Thanks. |

Bert agrees , Grantmissy
Quote Had the Elsie Clarke cottage twice already Really love it. No other accommodation to your right, so its nearly free standing Only setback is that the Selati is close and once had a noisy evening till 10.00 Good thing is that you can walk to the restaurant |

Waterkant 2 is in a wonderful position - stayed there in March 2012 - it has fence on 2 sides and animals are spotted from the lawn. A very sought after cottage
