As a die-hard camper, and will only visit Kruger if I can pitch a tent, I am always fascinated to see fellow campers and their setups. Some are small and simple, while others are quite the opposite. I thought maybe this will be an interesting topic to share photos of your campsite, and ideas, so, feel free to show us your campsite, with perhaps a few explanations as to why you choose the setup you do, the things you wouldn't change and tips and tricks which make camping such an awesome experience. So hoping you will contribute and make this a success. And, perhaps those who only 'hut-it' will find this inspiration enough to give camping a go.

I will go first - as you can see, my setup is really quite straight forward. A waterproof tent, a not so comfortable fold up chair, a tiny table and that's about it. I normally cook on an open fire, so no 'kitchen' in my setup. I have a stretcher and a sleeping bag indoors.
Quite rough and ready I know, but staying as dry at night as possible is all that matters really. Oh, and travelling light.

To 404-504

My wife and I have camped for a few years now and looking at your setup, I think it's perfect.
Ours is almost identical.

Its great that we have a few getting the ball rolling - thanks for contributing.

isinkwe - that's quite an impressive setup you have going there - Im not even sure I would fit what you have on just your table into my car. Ice machine - nice touch

chappies - Thanks, its a comfortable setup, fits in a tiny car. I have a hammock for those days I'm lucky enough to find a tree'ed site, and that's the most wanted spot in Kruger when one needs to be chilling. I don't have a fridge, spent 18 nights in Kruger with just what you see in the pic, wouldn't change the simplicity for anything (but an ice machine maybe.... but may need a bigger car first)

Over the years, I have seen some very basic campsites and some that are 5 star. The best part of camping is that it is very individual and unique to each person, and each camper/caravanner have what they need to make their campsite their own castle :D :D :D
Campers and caravanners are among the most friendly and helpful people that I have ever had the privilege of meeting :D :D

Nice topic.

We make ourselves as comfortable as we can. I have two tents,

a canvas frame tent

and a lighter nylon family dome which we mostly use

Image

We are kitted out with beds, chairs, tables, two plate gas cooker, freezer, lighting etc.

On our own

We also have a zip up gazebo that we can sit in when the mozzies get a bit too much.

glenD - WOWWW! I see when you're camping in style, you have an east wing and a west wing. Nice layout

Thanks 404-504

I also prefer camping in Kruger and we mainly visit in the hot summer months.

Buuut...I also like to be comfortable

I've also done the basics only when i went for a weekend to Satara, I must admit it was nice travelling light for a quick getaway.

We also love camping. If I knew how to post photos, I would look for a couple of our camp setup.

Lovely thread. :D

I have three tents.

A small one that I can put up with relative ease... but can't take down.

Two bigger tents for family camping.

I used to have a gazebo that flew away into a tree at Croc Bridge.

This photo was taken in Berg-en-Dal a year ago or so.

My camp is way on the right, dome tent with stretchers, waterproof gazebo with sides and a ground sheet, two chairs. My kitchen is in the back of my bakkie with a fridge and drawer system, we use the tailgate to prepare food.

Very cool thread

I love this Topic 404-504

We started camping in Kruger when I was a laaitjie. I fell in love with it from that moment. A period followed where we didn't go to the park as much and when we did it wasn't camping as the caravan had hit some hard times

I never forgot the joy of camping in Kruger so when I was older, I saved up and bought a tent. After a couple trips with my Dad the bug seemed to have got him as well. From that moment we have been building up our camping items. I cant wait to share our current setup at a later stage.

That Canvas tent brings back so many memories GlenD. I love the metallic stickers on the window
