Barcud
Thank you for your response! BCSE was my initial feeling as well, but isn't the lighter patch a bit too far up for that? (Although, I wouldn't have the faintest idea what else it could be then...) |

Hi LS,
There is a pale form of the imm. BCSE that shows white or pale areas as seen in your photos. The size of the head in relation to the body also point at one of the Snake-eagles. Although I'm not positive with this one, I'm fairly certain it's BCSE. |

I'm not convinced that it is a BCSE.
Have you guys considered a sub-adult (not immature) martial eagle? And if it's not a martial, why not? |

My guess would be a Black Kite from the stance and short legs.

I did when I first saw it but then found the size relative to other critters too small for a martial. Maxwell wrote My guess would be a Black Kite from the stance and short legs. What about the whitish patch at the throat? Are there forms of BK that have that? |

Is it a whitish patch or just a highlight of the sun? Hard to say but the stance and short legs do it for me.

I would hazard a guess on either Yellow-billed Kite or Black Kite. The stance of the bird is my reasoning. The BCSE would be standing a lot taller and as for Martial, this bird is too small for him

Could that be a water thick knee in the foreground?
![]() in the north, the second one is a redwinged starling, I think. But no clue on the others. Sorry. |
