Jumbo, I am pretty certain your warbler is a Marsh Warbler (Europese Vleisanger). Photographs of warblers in green vegetation often give a much yellower cast on the birds' underparts than are actually present in the plumage. The colour and shape of the bill, the broken white eye-ring, the short and indistinct eyestripe, and then the rather drab colouration all points towards Marsh Warbler. The habitat (micro and larger) all confirms that too.

Tilandi, the first bird looks like a Sabota Lark. The clear streaking on the breast and clear white eyebrow seems to dictate that. Unfortunately, there is too little detail on the next bird to be sure. The scollopy appearance of the back would points towards Flappet, Clapper or Spikeheeled Lark. If the bill was really narrow and does not only appear that way in the photo, then Spikeheeled (Vlaktelewerik) would be the best bet.

Hi. Can someone please help me ID this bird: I can't even decide if it is a pipit or lark.
It was seen on the Shabeni koppie outside Pretoriuskop this week. No calling was heard. It was on this huge fallen tree.
It seems to be heavily streaked below, not only on the breast but also on the flanks.

Hi Yolande,

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and go for Striped Pipit. Let's see what others think of this one as I'm not very confident with my ID on this.

Hi MM,

Male House Sparrow on left (brown nape, grey head, black mask, streaking on back), juvenile on right (gape).

Hope to get help from the LBJ experts on the forum

Found this little guy (or lassie), smaller than a mossie, at Skukuza in a wild fruit tree next to the Sabie river on 31/01/2010 and again on 01/02/2010.
It is a very busy little bird and only sits still for about 3 secs. before it jumps to another location. I got the impression that it does not eat the fruit on the tree but goes for the insects feeding on the rotting fruits.

Can anybody ID this busy little guy?

Thanks in advance

Not an expert by any means, but I would't be surprised if it is a Willow Warbler.
