Well done everyone and some guys hitting the 900 Mark...just incredible, another level!! Great stuff!

Got upto the magical 600 mark - counted and on 603 the other day

Latest lifers in last 4 months:

Pink-throated Twinspot
African Broadbill
Black Coucal
White-eared Barbet
Spotted Thrush

And 2 possible Bathawk sightings on the Thamalakane River in Maun...this bird continues to elude me though!!


Ross's Turaco apparently reported 3 times in the last while in the Linyanti concession up here in Botswana, going to try and get to the spot that has been talked about sometime!

I am now up to 140. Goal still 150.
I've managed to add:
Amethyst sunbird (my garden)
African swamphen
Black heron
Black-winged stilt
South African Shelduck
African black duck
Reed cormorant
Common moorhen
Little grebe (all at OPM Prozesky bird sanctuary).


Still one weird LBJ to identify, which might push it up or might not. I have no idea yet.

Little Crake at Clovelly wetlands last Sunday (25 March), Orange River Francolin (eventually) today in south-eastern Gauteng, and Lesser Black-backed Gull also today at Leeuwpan in Mpumalanga.
New total 536

Corn Crake takes me to 627.

Mel123, you can also see the Pied Avocet and Crested Eagle in Prozesky .We do some ringing there once a month and they are regularly seen there.

I actually went there on Saturday because I thought you guys might be there. I heard it is the first Saturday of each month? Maybe I had my dates wrong, but when I had the Saturday off (not a normal occurance unfortunately) I went for a look, but it was deserted.

Nevermind, I might catch up with you guys some time. Tilandi has also kindly invited me to some club meeting/outings previously, but my schedule hasn't allowed me to take her up on it yet.

Mel123, It would be nice to see you at the club meetings .The first Thursday of the month but not in April due to school holidays.

Up another 5, added Black-faced Waxbill, Olive-tree Warbler and Southern Pied Babbler at Zaagkuil. Then Ovambo Sparrowhawk and African Swamphen at Rietvlei. The new total is 490!

Added the Cuckoo Hawk and Pale Crowned Cisticola in Zululand to increase my total to 602.

The target for this year is 615......

Laine is up to 560 with Temminck's Courser.
