Hi,
I want to go somewhere different in March next year other than the Kruger even though I love it. I was wondering should I go to Mapungubwe or Marakele? Thanks, Samantha |

Both Parks are magnificent, BUT Mapungubwe would be my first choice. Why not do a bit of both! |

Hold your horses Bushbarmy!
Mant, my vote goes to Marakele! Are you going camping or will you be staying in the tented camp? Tlopi has the most romantic setting, right on the edge of the dam with a lovely deck to watch the sunset. Bontle, what can I say? Has been voted as the best SANParks camping site on this forum! How long would you be going for? If it's for more that 3 or 4 nights, I have to agree with Bushbarmy. Do both! ![]() |

If you want awesome scenery and great accommodation go for Mapungubwe
Watching elephants real close at the Maloutswa hide (within touching distance from the hide if you are lucky) go to Mapungubwe If you have the time go to both |

Hi,
We want to go for 3 days. We have stayed at both places before but that was years ago so I can't remember what they were like. Samantha |

Mant
never ever ask for this kind of advice on the forum you end up with more options and more confused. |

Mant wrote Hi, All the advice is very helpful, but I think I will go to Mapungubwe. Hi Mant I was in the Western part off Mapungubwe in the beginning of May. Did a day trip from Alldays. What bothered me most was the state of the fence next to the Limpopo, the state off some of the roads and the total devastation from ro many elephants. It was sad to see the state of the bush. The hide was very nice just crowded. Did the eastern part a couple of year's ago . Very nice scenery but not a lot else. Still have to do Marakele but I'm never able to get any accomodation. Where would I go - Kruger (3 hours away ) or if I have enough time KTP (1100 km away) |
