Hi I got thru!!! They told me the gates will be opened till 10pm... any later I have to contact the "anytime on duty" manager... otherwise, after 7pm and before 10pm, they will leave the keys at the main gate.
Also they said I need to call in advance that I arrive late and so they could leave the keys at the main gate... |

We will be booking soon. On departure we have an early flight from PE. Can we arrange to leave the park at 0500?
Thanks |

Hi there
If you will be staying at the the Addo Rest camp then that is actually outside of the main Park and one can come and go at anytime. We left at 2am for our trip home. Must admit that was two years ago - so, unless things have changed you should be fine with your times. |

Although there is a security guard staioned at the main entrance gate 24 hours a day, there is now a sliding gate which is locked between 10pm and 5am so you would not be able to enter or exit between these times.

Hi Megan!
I am an amateur photographer and decided to try and find out why the main gates only open at 7am in summer, for the public. By then the sun is far up and the magic early morning light, which contribute such a lot to a good photograph, is gone. I understand that the opening times of gates in Kruger, is earlier indeed. Is that so, and please can you let me know if something can be done to gain access earlier, for photographers? I know this is a long shot, but I must try! Regards, and thanks for all the great information you provide here. |

Here is Megan's answer to this problem.
"I know this issue with gate times is one that is close to the hearts of many of the regular visitors and I understand the reasons why you ask for changes. At present, it is a staffing and budget issue. To open gates earlier and close later means a whole new staff or security guard complement would need to be employed as well as the fact that the right type of people need to be employed. There are all sorts of labour issues pertaining to working hours and times that come into play. Then there is the issue of financial viability. We would need to justify these extra expenses with equal returns on entrance fees. It would not be financially viable to open gates early/late if an extra one or two visitors visited because of this." There is only one way around this problem...book a campsite or a chalet. |

@ Addo Elephant
I am new here in this forum. We are arriving for an overnight stay at Addo Matyholweni Restcamp on 10 April 2012. What are the relevant check-in times? |
