After the sighting of Tsamma I went back to Urikaruus for lunch. We then went south to Auchterlonie and back.
It was about 3:20 and for some reason I decided to first go in to Urikaruus camp before we continue to 13 de boorgat. I had a quick look at my photo’s of Tsamma. The Crows were very noisy and made me look up. Unbelievable, there were three Crows flying and escorting a LEOPARD down the dune opposite our cabin. I shouted at Jacques, who was on the boardwalk, and he informed the other quests who were at home. She was not amused by her escort and walked from tree to tree before she came in the open at 3:30. She was still escorted by the Crows. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() She spend some time at the water and at 3:35 she left. She left between cabin 3 and 4 and went up the hill towards the main road. ![]() ![]() What more can one ask for. That night we saw Spotted Hyaena, Caracal, Cape Fox and Springhare at the water hole. |

Hi all,
So after so many recent sighting, a lot of which were new leopards here is the latest updated guide - found through my website (link in my signature). Changes to the guide are obviosuly the new leopards, but i've also managed to update a few pictures too - Kagiso - this is the new guy that was seen around Leeuwdril earlier in the year...thanks go to GavinW, Muhammad Mia and Fotomaljohan. - Ingwe - She is the first leopard seen at Tierkop on the lower dune road. Its great that we are finally getting sighitngs on the dune roads, if anyone has any other dune road sightings then i'd love to hear about them. Thanks Dantheman. - Barolong and Tsamma - some new pics, thanks WillieV. - Isabis - Our first true dune leopard seen at Bitterpan, thanks Sim....again other similar sightings would be great. - Langklaas - Earlier estimated birth date due to a March 2006 sighting. A note of warning here. The estimated birth dates are just that....estimated and quite possibly wrong. So when using them as an identification discriminator take them with a pinch of salt - Kham - The new guy in the north, thanks AFRICAT. In the historical section we also have some additions/changes. - L-4 - Tswana's 2009 cub, thanks AFRICAT. - Grootkolk-1 - Some update pics thanks to RichardJ And thanks to everyone for their help with this. I really do appreciate you sending me both your sightings and your higher res pics for the guide. I think you can see that the better pics do really make a difference. Good luck using the guide and if you have any additions do please contact me. Happy leopard spotting |

Dear All!!!
It has been exciting, humbling and truly inspirational getting to read and see the wonderful work here!!! At first when I seen this thread, I jumped to the last page (39) and immediately jumped back to the first page!!! I must firstly congratulate, Eagle Eyes and WanderW for their committment, vision and great Idea!!! Astromat, you have created an exceptional guide and have been blessed with a great skill having to have accurately ID' the many leo's and compiled an invaluable piece of work!!! and I agree that it is through the active participation of Forumites that has made this project a great success too!!! Awesome sightings with Fantastic Photographs!!! The first time I visited KTP was in 2008, Yes and as many of the forumites know, once the bug has bitten, you are indeed smitten!!! After her relocation to the North, I was hoping to have heard about her whereabouts on the the thread or having someone seen her, unfortunately none as I see... hope is not lost as we have this great thread!!!! I will post some pics and send Matthew my sightings... Regards Mohammed H Ps... tried linking pics from Flikr (says does not recognise dimensions ) tried uploading various dimensions so not sure what the problem could be? ![]() |
