I was wondering if there is anybody on the forum that can say that they have visited every single SANParks Park? We have visited the following: Table Mountain NP, Bontebok NP, All 3 Garden Route Parks (Storms River, Wilderness & Natures Valley), Addo NP, Karoo NP, West Coast NP, Augrabies NP and the best Kgalagadi Transfrontier NP. That brings my list to 10. (KNP still on the wishlist but hopefully soon ) |

Good one Munchkin
I have decided to add as many Parks to my list as possible. There is a reason why they are National Parks, one being their pristine beauty and another that it captures an unique eco zone. One of my resolutions was to visit more Parks other than Kruger. So far I have visited: Table Mountain Park, Addo National Park, Mountain Zebra National Park, Karoo National Park, Mapengubwe National Park, Golden Gate National Park, Kruger National Park. I have booked into Kgalagadi National Park for the end of December. I also hope to enjoy more of the Garden Route Parks while my daughter is at Rhodes. It is interesting to note in the Sanparks profile page, just how much land has been added since 1994. Also how many new Parks have been proclaimed. I often see people harshly critical about "Sanparks" going to the dogs, so to say, but this is evidence that they are a very potent and dedicated concervation force. |

Yes, something some people seem to overlook .... and that in SANParks' budget is R50million+ set aside to purchase more land with. This is money from DEAT. I know this is another topic altogether, but I would like to provide the link MM mentioned - link |

Munchkin, I have been very fortunate. I have been to all of them. Obviously enjoyed some more than others but that is beside the point really. Each is unique in its own way and to be appreciated for what it is. Great job Sanparks but please keep them as simple as possible under different circumstances.

Take a Bow! but to take a quote from your post " Each is unique in its own way and to be appreciated for what it is" - I totally agree - each Park provides it's own unigue intrigue. I know that I am not going to see any large predators at Bontebok or West Coast NP, but I still love and enjoy every visit to these respective Parks. |

MM! I too am very positive about SANParks! As I said earlier, we have not been to KNP yet, and even though there is the occasional negative comment etc. reported on the forum re KNP - I will not let that be the deciding factor as to whether or not we decide to visit this Great Park! |

I think that the forum has gone a long way in promoting KNP. Their are so many helpless addicts, completely imprisoned by their addiction
I went recently to Mountain Zebra. It would normaly never have been on my list, but I decided that "what the hell, it was on my way home". Nothing could have prepared me for the surprise. Pehaps, because my expectations were few, each moment was one of unexpected pleasure. It has just left me more determined than ever to visit more of our National Parks. |
