I am very glad that the rumour turned out to be true, the 'new' buffer is going to be awesome!

Yes, Great, as long as your 7d has the latest version before you try and get the new version otherwise you have no way of getting it other than sending it in to a Canon Service Center and getting them to do it.
You end up being without the camera for a lot longer than anticipated. However I can't wait for the new firmware as it will be a lot better. and the In-Camera RAW editing. |

? The previous version was 1.07, and I don't think I ever bothered to install that. I think I had 1.04, the next updates were mostly translation errors and other not interesting stuff.
I put the update onto my card, and told the camera to update. Took a few minutes, and done, no problem at all. |

DuQues wrote ? The previous version was 1.07, and I don't think I ever bothered to install that. I think I had 1.04. yes, mine must have been the version one before that then. i found that out when i sent it in for firmware upgrade that the Camera Shop had supplied me a 2nd hand body and told me i was buying a new body. Canon Service couldnt work it out as the serial numbers didnt match when i said this is the first time its coming and they said the 2nd and the camera shop is now getting me a new camera body and brand new too. then i will be able to the firmware upgrade myself. |

lion queen wrote DQ would I be able to do all this myself??? Yes; full step-by-step instructions are given on the Canon website. Just take your time and make sure you read the instructions... There's also a YouTube video here you might find helpful; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNbOINYZx5M Cheers... |

The download actually contains manuals in several languages.
In short, copy the .fir file to a CF card and wake up the camera. Insert the card. Well, maybe take the one in the camera out first if need be. Pop over to the Menu and manouver to the third from the right. The bottom option says Firmware Ver x.x.x. Enter on that one, and follow the instructions. Make sure your batteries are full enough first! You can do it via the computer too, but that is a roundabout way which I never use. |

Note that an update on the update was released: http://www.canon-europe.com/Support/Sys ... :13-974139
1. Fixes a phenomenon in which the camera stops working when the auto power off setting takes effect. 2. Fixes a phenomenon in which the maximum number of images that can be captured in a burst may be less than the actual number displayed in the viewfinder. 3. Corrects some errors in the message displayed on the LCD screen when saving RAW images developed in the camera. |

Just did the CF card Firmware update to V2.03 on both 7D bodies following Duques instructions. It was easy as pie. Just 6 more weeks till I get to try it out in KNP.
Thanks Duques! Daron |
