Good day everyone
![]() Day 26 Today I’m posting some pics or our visit to Mlondozi picnic site last August. We arrived there for brunch, and as we stepped out of our car, the guard waved at us to come have a look. A snake was busy eating a lizard. This was pretty spectacular to see. ![]() Here Eric trying to identify the snake in his reptile book. Unfortunately the snake was not in his book. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Good day everyone
![]() Day 23 2 years ago we had a heart stopping experience. We visited Timbavati picnic site for lunch one afternoon. There were a few families with children and they were all admiring the bush buck at the picnic site. Roan and Eric were also walking after one of the bush bucks when I called them to come sit down for lunch. A few minutes later my heart almost stopped. I saw a bush buck running down the hill and HIGH SPEED. It puzzled me, because I never seen bush bucks running that fast. I saw something chasing him, making impressive moves to avoid bushes and rocks. The bush buck ran passed us and I totally panicked when I saw a predator chasing him. My first thoughts were LEOPARD. I jumped up, almost choking in my bread, and grabbed the kids. At the same time the guards shouted " LION " and they both jumped up and ran towards the lioness, shouting at her. This all happened in a matter of seconds. The lioness stopped so fast, that a dust cloud appeared. She looked at us for a few seconds, and then turned around and disappeared into the bushes as if nothing happened. It was dead quiet on the picnic site. When she was gone, everyone came together and couldn't stop talking about it. I was almost hysterical and just wanted to get the kids into the car and get out of there as fast as I can. Philip stayed calmed and loved the excitement. It all happened so fast and everyone was so shocked that no one took a photo I took this Photo minutes before it happened. Philip was unpacking the picnic bag on the right hand side ![]() |

Good day everyone
![]() Day 22 Sometimes I wonder about the fences. Are they really strong enough to keep an elephant or buffalo out? And what about those leopards? They can jump high, can’t they? Look how low this fence is at Shimuwini. I just can’t stop wondering ![]() Philip hoping the buffalo stays outside. ![]() Roan closing the gate at Tsendze. I’m sure a leopard can jump that gate??? ![]() Philip checking the fence to see if all is okay in Tamboti. ![]() |

![]() Day 19 I just can’t resist stopping at every picnic spot we pass. Even if it’s out of our way, we just have to go there. This first picture was taken at Mooiplaas. Just sitting and relaxing before driving further. ![]() Eric early morning at Tshokwane. It was so misty it looked kind of spooky ![]() The view from our favorite picnic spot in the whole park. Mlondozi. ![]() |
