We found this male on the H12 (road other the bridge to join the Tshokwane road)

We found this guy on close to Skukuza this past weekend.
Don't want to give to much away, still have to save something for the TR... :lol:

Does anyone know about the markings these two young males have on their shoulders? These males were seen near Berg En Dal. What first appears to be a "normal scar" takes on new meaning when you notice that both males have the identical marks- one on the left shoulder and the other has it on his right. I think you can make it out on the pictures (even at small size) the marking looks like an underlined c. I asked the guide if it was for research, and he said researchers only collar the lions. I haven't had time to look through all of the forum postings (we just returned from the trip), so please forgive me if this topic has been covered somewhere!

A very sad pic, a dead lioness :(

But I wondered if it was natural for them to go this "black" colour, or if something else happened. Any insight would be greatly appreciated
