Question:
If you had the choice to select the location for a new webcam, where would you have it and why? Very interested to what everyones responses are going to be so if you have more than one location in mind please post all of them. I'd have to agree with James of the jungle in a previous topic of mine, a webcam at sunset dam would be insane!! only issue would be lighting at night. But the variety that you would see during the day would be fantastic. |

Actually I would not put it in KNP at all.
Mountain Zebra, Mapungubwe or Marakele would be my choices... |

The ideal would be to have at least one webcam in every park. There will be very different scenery, different animals and a lot more to learn.

I would like to see some sort of mobile web cam and transmit live from anywhere in the park.

Clifton beach gets my vote too as I would love to watch the ships making their winter migration onto the beach!
Joking aside, TMNP would be great for the elusive Caracal sightings.. |

Presumably Sanparks would only realistically put webcams where there is year round water?

I would also say Mapungubwe.
In Kruger, Sunset dam could be a birders delight. It would have to be a roving cam though to focus on the little flying creatures. Punda hide is another place where I have been spoilt. Graham, when you said Clifton beach, I thought that you had other animals in mind Walter Sisulu botanical gardens had a cam focused on their breeding Eagles. It drew a lot of attention and did a lot to bring awareness. Perhaps a Hyena den, or some other fairly territorial animal could be the focus of a webcam. I could watch baby Hyenas play forever. Nice question, Stickman. |
