Agree with everything you say O-dog, except the photography element. Granted my experience of all-inclusive wasn't in SA but I found self-drive to be better for photography, mainly because you can't control the movements of other people in the truck. I ended up with heads in the way and blurred shots because someone moved at the wrong time. Very frustrating.
Plus I can arrange to be in exactly the right angle for the best shot and I can wait patiently for the right moment without everyone else getting bored. From my perspective the all-inclusive trip we did was purely so my SO, who normally does all the driving and cooking, could get a proper holiday. |

Im up in Maun and I was thinking about what you said about too many people on some of these vehicles - perhaps in the Sabi Sands it is generally ok but you are defintely correct about up here on the day trip safaris - Sometimes 12 people on a vehicle or more. That must be frustrating. Guess its the same with all the jeep jockey day trippers into KNP. |

Just to comment on the last few posts with regards to overloaded game-viewing vehicles: I have also found the opposite situation on Kruger's roads, which can become very frustrating for self-drive people. You often find game-viewing vehicles with only 1 or 2 guests on them driving around. Of course, this leads to congestion on the roads. They should actually implement a minimum amount of people for day-trip game-viewing vehicles from outside Kruger to prevent this problem. But I guess this is a topic for another day...
