Hi there - is there anyone able to shed some light on what is currently happening at Cape Point regarding the use of Wild cards.
Upon entering to go fishing, I presented my Wild Card on Sunday morning, and asked also for a fishing permit (R40), upon which I was informed that to get a fishing permit I have to pay the full entry fee of R85 plus the angling permit of R40. I decided not to purchase the fishing permit, which allowed me to enter with my Wild Card. I went straight to the Visitors centre (sorry to interrupt your Solitaire games ladies) and there was no knowledge of any changes. I did see somewhere on the net that the TMNP is moving away from the Wild Card and you now have to get a Table Mountain Visitors card but more info seems scarce. please help. thanks and regards |

There is now a separate card for Cape Town residents called My Green Card, which is separate from the Wild Card. There is also a separate My Activity Permit to allow certain activities within TMNP.
More information can be found here. Please let me know if you have any more specific questions and I can try to get answers. |

Thanks for the effort Saraf, but that really did not answer my question at all. I paid close to R800 for a family WildCard which I am now unable to use as entry when intending to go fishing. Not just me but a horde of fishermen I know personally - and they are all very unhappy.

Will101,
My contact in Wild Card is in Pretoria and is not really knowledgeable about the Cape Town set up. She has suggested you talk to Tokai directly. My reading of it is that you can buy the 12 month Activities permit and use the Wild Card for the entry fee. It doesn't say anything about buying a one-off permit. |

We will visit Cape Point on August, I would like to know if there are changes about foreign visitors and the use of wild card (of course for international citizens).
We will see Table Mountain (using funicular, I hope!) Cape point and Boulders, are all of them included in our wild card? Thank you very much |

Quote We will see Table Mountain (using funicular, I hope!) Cape point and Boulders, are all of them included in our wild card? LetiziaZ, The cable car to the top of Table Mountain is a private company, not SANParks owned, but you can get a discount on the fare if you show your Wild Card. More information can be found here. Please note the dates the cable car is closed for maintenance, I hope you are not there at that time. You will be able to use your Wild Card to access Cape Point and Boulders. I'm not sure where in Cape Town you can actually buy a Wild Card so it may be best to purchase it before going to Cape Town. If you are going to another Park before Cape Town then buy it at the gate. Otherwise buy it online. You will not get an actual card at this late stage but you will get a confirmation letter that acts as a Wild Card. |

The first park I will visit will be Table Mountain,Cape Point and also Boulders, because I arrive in Cape town on August (fortunatly after 15 th). So I hope to be able to buy wild card in that occasion!
Some days after I will leave Cape Town and I will drive on the garden route..... I will end my holiday with Kruger and Mpumalanga region...... Thank you Letizia |

Letizia,
Not all the entry points into Table Mountain National Park can sell the Wild Card, as they have no communications network. I strongly advise that you buy your Wild Card on line before you leave Italy. You will be sent a confirmation email that you print out and use as a Wild Card. I hope you enjoy your trip. |

Saraf, thanks a lot!!
So you think I will not have problems if I shows the wild card confirmation printed at home? Every park included in the wild card recognized the stamp as valid for free entrance? I'm quite worried to pay two times i'm sure it will be a wondeful trip, i dream this country from many years |

If you PM me your email address I will forward on an email sent out recently by the Wild Card Program Manager. You can also print that out and show it if you have any problems. I'm so pleased you are realising your dream, South Africa is an amazing country. Enjoy your trip. |

I don't think you can buy it at Cape point, nor Table Mountain.
I think you have to go to their offices which recently moved. Even if you manage to buy it in Cape Town , you still do not get the card itself but only a printout with the number. The actual card will be posted to you Later after you register your details online . So buy online just before you leave. Enjoy! |

Sara...........can I recap?
My daughter and SIL will be buying an International Couples Wild card, while with us in Phalaborwa, to do day visits to Kruger. When they fly to Cape Town, am I right in thinking that they can use it to visit Boulders and Cape Point, and that they get a discount on the Table Mountain Cableway? ![]() |
