I would only go on a ride when the gates are closed for normal self drive.

Hi Sabine :D the general consensus is that the sundowner drive is likely to be the most interesting of the two options. The sundowner drive starts about an hour before sunset and therefore catches many of the daytime animals. Once the sun has set, the nocturnal animals make their appearance. With the sundowner drive, you get both day and night experiences.

My own feeling is that the period when the sun sets is one of the best in times in the Park. The birds are returning to their nests, there is a different feel in the air. With the falling temparature, most animals become more active. Wilddog for instance start to gear themselves up for the hunt at this time of day.

I have seen some special sightings on night drives, but generaly, even if I have few sightings, I enjoy the sundowner drive more.
The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.

The sundowner and night drives are always something different and unique in their owm way. Lately i have gone on far more night drives than sundowner drives and have not been disappointed at all. I enjoy seeing more of the nocturnal animals but then again watching the sunset from the open truck is always a treat. tough one :)

Some have a parking spot directly outside, but others might be up to 15 metres away.
