Thanks for the advice JustNature. I have found a Vivicam 5188 for R999 on the net...I wonder if it can handle 40 meters (5 bar)?

I was looking at the new housing for the new sony I got  , then decided to stick to the old one

Unfortunately, if you go too deep{35+mt's) the S&S cannot do and the Vis. goes to 45ft. :wall:

Must admit Scipio, one tends to loose too much when you go deeper than 35m+(colour and vis), most of my underwater pics are taken between 1m and 25m thats where I think the best pics and colours are.
and to become a member of SIO I have the following if they surfice

Think I posted them in the ocean thread

Good, the Oom is in good company. He was getting very lonely when he thought he had sole right to this club.

Scipio, same camera as I've got - picked mine up a few years ago and had a lot of fun with it. With most of my diving it does the job nicely.

We looked at doing a cage dive last year but I spoke to a good friend of mine who had done it and he basically said not to waste our money - vis was cruddy, long trip out and the "thrill" just was'nt there for him - I think he felt there were too many people!

See Oom, I knew you would'nt be the sole member for long!

JustNature - where were your pics taken?

Welcome to the SIO club JustNature!

Great close-up of the whale shark.
I presume the first one is a Thresher shark.

I see we have some "deep diving" members here.

Been there and done that and it's as boring as bat doo doo  - have always enjoyed the shallower waters for things to see.

Timepilot took the whale shark at Sodwana and the Leopard shark at Guinjata Bay

Love the whale shark pic JN. I would have called the first one a zebra shark rather than a leopard shark, but I've found that to be quite common since coming to Oz. Names differ quite a lot!

Got a Fellow Phalamite coming the weekend to get my old pic's on Digital.

Theuns, was in the south of Moz with some guys from Getaway Magazine about 14 years ago, they did a whole thing on Ultra deep diving, etc. They were kitted with a lot of fancy things. Will see, maybe I can dig up the article on the net. :hmz:

Timepilot, some of my best sightings was Snorkling.

I've had some extraordinary sightings on Ningaloo reef while in 1-2m of water with nothing more than a snorkel myself - so I totally agree with you Scipio.

I think I mentioned in Theuns other thread that I was in Soddies when they were doing some of the deep dive stuff back in '91 - so much gear and so much prep - just seemed like a lot of bother. I've done a few deep dives and never found much to look at
